About the Estate
The cultivation is carried out mostly by indigenous people of the Ngäbe-Buglès ethnic group, an indigenous people who live in western Panama, mainly in the Ngäbe-Buglé region and in the provinces of Veraguas, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro. They are people with a long tradition in work related to coffee. Some of these live on the farm and are dedicated to agronomic tasks, typical of a coffee plantation, such as weed control, fertilizing, fumigating, pruning..., others are expert coffee processors and work directly with the crop. During the harvest months, which runs from October to the end of February, and is carried out by manual method – “picking”, many more people travel from the regions to carry out this work.
