About the region
Las Garzas is a natural community lot from Gaitania, in the municipality of Planadas (Tolima, Colombia), a region with a deep coffee tradition. Gaitania is home to part of the Nevado del Huila, an emblematic mountain and vital water source for the area. During the price crisis of the 1990s, many farmers turned to poppy cultivation, but over time they returned to coffee, which is today the economic engine and a source of local pride.
