Ethiopia - Guji Alaka Korchema – Natural

This coffee is born in the forests and highlands of Hambela Wamena, in the Guji region of Ethiopia, and is the result of community work and the natural environment that characterizes this high altitude area. The Alaka Korchema estate, owned by METAD, extends over approximately 200 hectares and is located in the Alaka and Bishan Fugu kebeles. The agricultural system used follows the traditional Ethiopian semi-forest model, where the landscape retains a rich natural forest cover. Native climax tree species, such as qararo (Aningeria adolfi-friederici), are still found on the estate. The estate is organized into plots, and each plot is grown with a single coffee variety, allowing for better traceability and varietal expression. The varieties grown include 74140, 74110, 74112, 75227 and Heirloom, all managed under organic farming practices. The cherry harvest is carried out entirely by hand, ensuring careful selection of the fruit.
